Announcing the 2019 Fall Season of Take a Hike®, Cleveland’s free historical walking tours, beginning October 5 through November 23, 2019. Two tours are programmed and will be held on alternating Saturdays starting at 10 a.m.

New this fall is the addition of the Early Cleveland tour with a new actor portraying George Worthington, a 19th-century Warehouse District entrepreneur and leading industrial hardware distributor whose former warehouse complex has been recently adapted into apartments.

Historic Euclid Avenue

Meet at the Arcade (401 Euclid Avenue)

  • Explore the history and architecture of the Gateway District through Playhouse Square

  • Historical figures include: Garrett Morgan, Milton Krantz, & Mayor Tom Johnson

(NEW) Early Cleveland

October 12 & 26 | November 9 & 23

Meet outside Phoenix Coffee (826 West St. Clair Avenue)

  • Journey from the Warehouse District through the Flats

  • Experience the history of early Cleveland’s first entrepreneurs and industrialists

  • Historical figures include: George Worthington, Carl Stokes, & Levi Johnson

We’re always excited to bring new stories to life through our Take a Hike ® experiences. The Historic Euclid Avenue tour combines the best of our summer Gateway District and Playhouse Square tours and the Early Cleveland tour introduces participants to a new narrative about the Old River Road Historic District in The Flats, significant to Cleveland’s prominent rise in shipbuilding and maritime history.

Take a Hike® is in its 11th season and is unique because of the incorporation of live actors depicting historical figures to enhance the storytelling experience. All tours a free, however, RSVPs are strongly recommended so tour guides can provide the best experience for attendees. Tours are family and pet-friendly, and generally navigable for those with limited mobility considerations.
